iPad Bootcamp for Students

Welcome to the iPad Bootcamp for Students

Although you have used computers and other pieces of technology in the classroom practically since you started school, the iPad is the official learning tool for Upper School at St. Matthew's.

Many technologies have claimed to have the power to revolutionize teaching and learning. The portable, powerful, flexible iPad, along with its thousands of apps, may actually fit that description. It will allow you, your classmates and teachers to explore and communicate about topics in ways no other technology, no matter how well designed, can. On the iPad you can read, write, paint, draw, take pictures and videos, record sounds, communicate, collaborate, manipulate data, and access a world of resources. And, no less importantly, when not needed, it can be easily put aside, sliding into a desk like a pencil.

The following pages will give you a solid introduction to the iPad, both how it functions and how it can be utilized as a learning tool. No extensive manual is needed to use the iPad. Its basic functions are simple and straightforward, which is one reason it has inspired so many apps. If you do encounter problems, however, your teachers, along with Ms. Bononi and Mr. Quintero, are available to help you through them.

The iPad is a powerful and expensive piece of equipment and therefore must be well cared for. Because the 1:1 iPad program utilizes school owned devices, students have no expectation of privacy. This guide will help you keep the iPad in good working order, understand your responsibilities and help you deal with any issues that arise.

Enjoy your iPad!
