Author's Note
Welcome to the iPad Bootcamp for Students. This site is designed to accompany the face-to-face bootcamps for the students at St. Matthew's in preparation for our 1:1 iPad program in grades 6 through 8.
During the face-to-face bootcamp students set up their iPad, and get a very brief overview of some of the apps they will use in class. We then go through a jigsaw activity to understand the main points in the Student iPad Use Policy. We use Socrative to check for understanding. We then take them through a small group scavenger hunt using the Space Race feature in Socrative and Wikipanion as their research tool.
After the F2F bootcamp, students are asked to go through this online portion on their own time and get certified prior to the start of school in the fall. You will find the certification exam at the end of the bootcamp.
While this bootcamp has been constructed for use by the students at St. Matthew's, we now offer this resource to the larger education community. Although there are areas, such as workflow and the approved app list, which are specific to our campus, you will find that most of the information, strategies, guidelines and tips can apply to any school.
We hope you find this resource helpful in your own 1:1 iPad programs. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.
Best regards,
